If you are using a PayTM based UPI address (for eg astro@paytm) to withdraw your earnings, this article applies to you.
We are regularly getting errors while transferring to paytm based UPI addresses. We are not quite sure why this is the case, but we believe that lack of KYC might be the reason.
KYC - or Know your customer - is a RBI mandate rule to establish identiy of any users of financial instruments. PayTM needs KYC to enable certain features.
PayTM offers you either in-person KYC or online KYC using Aadhar.
The easiest and fastest way to do KYC is the Aaadhar + OTP option. This will unlock all features of your PayTM wallet.
If it applies to you, please go ahead and complete your KYC.
Note that bank linked UPI (astro@icici for example) do not need this as banks already have KYC done. So if you using Google Tez or BHIM, you don't have to worry about this issue. Note that a single bank account can have mulitple UPI linked to it.
